Whether you’re tackling your very first AP exam this year or preparing for your last one, you may be feeling like this:

Check out these tips and tricks to help you score high on any AP exam!

  1. Crack Down and Hit the Books

Having more time to study is always helpful - the sooner the better! Take some time each day to review for your upcoming exams. Now is the time to focus closely on your exams and prepare or review as much as you can. Your score will reflect how much time and effort you have put into it.

  1. Make a Study Schedule

Especially if you are taking more than one AP exam this year, planning out your study times will help you stay organized. Create a calendar and set up times each day dedicated to studying for your exams. This will help you stay on the ball and work through your busy schedule. Prepping for multiple exams can be challenging, but even studying for short bursts of time is an effective way to prepare.

  1. Use Practice Materials

Use AP practice tests or review books to help you study and time yourself while practicing an exam to put yourself in a similar testing environment. This will make you familiar with the exam format so you know what to expect the day of the test. Discovering that you need to improve time management when your timer suddenly rings and you’re still on the first question is absolutely valuable information.

  1. Practice with your Teachers

Your teachers are here to help you! Reach out to them and review material, take practice exams, and clarify questions. Your teacher is one of the best resources you have, so don’t be embarrassed to ask them for help. It shows dedication on your part and will save you more time than researching on your own. Your teacher will know valuable information about your exam and will help you take on the challenge!

  1. Study with Friends

AP exams are a tough challenge to face solo. Organize study sessions with classmates to discuss material, outline ideas, or quiz one another. Work together to tackle the information and help each other strive to do your best. Your exam may seem less overwhelming if you have the support of a study group!

  1. Stay Calm

AP exams can be stressful, but stressing out about exams will not help you reach your goal score. The more organized you are, the less stressed you will be (I promise). It is important to stay relaxed, neat, and focused. Concentrate on your plan and work hard - you will see that it pays off in the end. Avoid those pre-exam jitters by taking it day by day and remembering to take some time to yourself once in a while.

AP exams are an excellent opportunity to showcase your knowledge and skills. Give it your best, but don’t let yourself become overwhelmed. Stay organized, work hard, and be focused. Good luck!
