Human-shaped sculptures made of tape have begun to make an appearance in various places within Pequannock Township High School.
The sculptures are accredited to Mr. Eveland and Mrs.Ciavarella’s art classes. Mrs. Ciavarella has been instructing her classes to construct tape sculptures for the past ten years in order to raise awareness on social issues. Topics are chosen by the students, who then try to portray a message through art. Mr. Eveland has only begun to do the tape sculpture project this year in collaboration with Mrs. Ciavarella. When questioned about the motivation for creating the tape sculptures, Mr. Eveland stated that “students put forth what they are feeling.”
Whenever you see a tape sculpture in the school, try to imagine the message the creators may be trying to convey.
