Playing for a Cure

The Pequannock Boys and Girls soccer organizations teamed up to help the fight against Pancreatic cancer. In response to the recent loss of a teammate’s mother, captains Sophie Daley, Julia Cucci, Danielle Laky, Daniel Apryasz and Xavier Ramirez decided to pay tribute to the family.
The six captains collaboratively came up with the idea to create and wear jerseys displaying the purple Pancreatic cancer ribbon in order to show their support for the cause. They then decided to opened up the purchase of the shirts to the students and collectively raise over four hundred dollars from that alone.
For the girls soccer team, however, this wasn't enough. The team decided to take it a step further and host a Pancreatic Cancer game on October 17th at 6 pm vs. Parsippany High. The event included a snack stand and donation buckets, with all proceeds going to help researchers continue to find a cure.
“It was a big loss for the soccer family and we want to pay our respects and show our appreciation to those who are working hard everyday to help find a cure. We wanted to do something special and get the community involved and shed a light on this aspect of cancer research.” Captain Danielle Laky states.
Thank you to all those who came out and showed your support at the game! It is for a great cause and means a great deal to the family.
